Landing a board seat at a private biomedical, digital health, or care delivery company is a combination of strategy, networking, and positioning yourself as someone who can bring value to the table. Here's a roadmap to help you position yourself for such opportunities:

1. Build Domain Expertise

  • Industry Knowledge: Deeply understand the trends, regulations, technologies, and business models that define the biomedical, digital health, and care delivery sectors. • Credentials: Having a solid track record in relevant areas (e.g., digital health, healthcare policy, biomedicine, etc.) can help you stand out. Advanced degrees (MBA, MD, PhD, or relevant certifications) or experience with top healthcare companies can be valuable.

  • Experience in Startups or Scaling Companies: Experience with startups—particularly in scaling and funding—gives you the ability to understand the challenges private companies face, including capital raising, market entry, regulatory hurdles, etc.
