Why most doctors don't innovate
The entrepreneurial mindset sees challenges as opportunities. Biomedical and health entrepreneurs pursue that opportunity with scarce resources. The goal is to create user defined value through the discovery, design, development, testing, validation, and deployment of biomedical and health innovation. Innovation is different from an idea or invention or discovery in that it is not only new, but useful, creating significant multiples of user defined value. While I am optimistic about the future of physician entrepreneurship, most doctors don’t have an entrepreneurial mindset. A few are managers, fewer are leaders or entrepreneurs and very few are innovators. Few doctors have an entrepreneurial mindset for some basic reasons.
