Love & Work: Why your doctor might be a cold fish or a lousy leader
Leo Tolstoy, Sigmund Freud (of leiben und arbeiten fame) and Erik Erikson all had lots to say about love and work. It turns out that there is a lot in common between love and entrepreneurship-it doesn’t work out in a significant number of cases, it makes people do crazy things, everyone does it differently, and, in the ultimate triumph of hope over experience, people seem to want to do it repeatedly despite previous failures.
In addition, psychological, behavioral and neuroscience research indicates that how stable and secure you feel in your interpersonal relationships tends to mirror how stable and secure you feel about your finances. So it’s worth examining your close ties, both past and present, to understand how they may influence your spending, saving, and investing habits—for good or ill.
