Doctors are increasingly employed by large organizations, and they are assuming more of an intrapreneurial role i.e. trying to be entrepreneurial.

Entrepreneurship/intrapreneurship is the pursuit of opportunity under volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous conditions. The goal is to create user defined value through the design, development, deployment and harvesting of innovation using a VAST business model to achieve the sextuple aims.

. As I noted before, intrapreneurship takes a certain skill set and there are many variables beyond the intrapreneur's control that will affect the outcomes of change or innovation initiatives and intrapreneurs and revision intrapreneurs face some unique and difficult challenges.

Like most entrepreneurial efforts, most intrapreneurial change and innovation efforts will fail and there are common reasons why.
